Volunteer with Blackburn UK Trust to Support Jordan, Syria & Uganda

This world can become a fairer place for those in need if each of us steps up and fulfils our duty toward our needy brothers and sisters who are struggling to survive.

Across Jordan, Syria, and Uganda, millions face hardship that most of us can hardly imagine. Poverty, conflict, and displacement have become part of their daily lives, but it doesn’t have to stay this way.

Change begins when we choose to act.

Why We Must Act Now

Our brothers and sisters overseas are suffering. We can’t stay at home while they call for help.

  • Jordan 🇯🇴 hosts more than 2.4 million Palestinian refugees—the highest number in any country. Ongoing economic hardship has seen poverty among refugee families rise from 57% to 67% in the past two years.
  • Syria 🇸🇾 is home to 16.5–16.7 million people who need humanitarian aid, including nearly 7 million internally displaced persons and around 12–13 million facing food insecurity. Over 90% of Syrians now live below the poverty line .
  • Uganda 🇺🇬 faces challenges from high malnutrition, disease, and large refugee influxes. In the Karamoja region alone, over 112,000 children and nearly 9,000 pregnant women are projected to suffer acute malnutrition by February 2025.

Mission Destinations & Dates

📌 Jordan – October 2025

Deliver aid to Palestinian refugees, visit camps like Baqa’a, and meet displaced families. All efforts support BBUK’s relief projects on the ground.

📌 Syria (Damascus) – 14th–20th September 2025

Hand out aid to Syrian refugees and displaced families impacted by years of war. Offer Friday Salah at the historic Umayyad Mosque in Homs, guided by Mufti Saleh and Brother Khalid.

📌 Uganda – 16th–23rd November 2025

Distribute support to vulnerable communities, including orphans and refugees, emphasizing health and nutrition in rural areas.

What You’ll Do & Gain

  • Hand-deliver aid, the impact is immediate and real.
  • Meet orphans, families, and refugees, hear stories, see lives being changed.
  • Pray and reflect in historically significant Masjids and oppressed areas.
  • Learn humanitarian practice through direct mentorship.
  • Return with life-changing stories that inspire others to act.

Why These Missions Matter

Jordan

  • Nearly 1 in 2 refugees in Jordan are vulnerable children.
  • 100,000 households limit meals due to poverty.
  • Providing aid can help ensure families don’t go to bed hungry or without shelter.

Syria

  • 16.5 million Syrians need help, that’s 7 out of every 10 people.
  • 12.9–14.5 million face food shortages; 7.2 million are displaced within the country.
  • Children are especially at risk, with 2.45–2.8 million out of school, clean water lacking for up to 35%, and hospitals operating at just half capacity .

Uganda

  • 112,000 children and nearly 9,000 pregnant women face acute malnutrition.
  • Over 89,700 new refugee arrivals, including nearly 100,000 children, in early 2024.
  • Only 13% of funding needs for humanitarian aid have been met, leaving many without support.

It’s not a choice, it’s our duty.

We cannot turn away while our brothers and sisters around the world suffer. As an Ummah, responding to their needs is our responsibility.

Our Prophet ﷺ said:

“If anyone relieves a Muslim believer from one of the hardships of this worldly life, Allah will relieve him of one of the hardships of the Day of Resurrection.
