— Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
Sahih Muslim 2699a

Families Are Going Hungry

For many families in Karamoja, hunger means more than missing a meal.

Families are being forced to reduce the amount and quality of food they eat as household food stocks run low and income remains limited. Children, elderly people, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with disabilities and families without reliable livelihoods are particularly vulnerable.

The latest IPC analysis estimates that around 673,000 people in Karamoja are facing high levels of acute food insecurity (IPC Phase 3 or above) between August and October 2026. All nine districts in Karamoja are classified as being in IPC Phase 3 (Crisis).

Behind every statistic is a family trying to find enough food for the day.

Families Need Your Help

The project aims to provide essential food supplies to vulnerable households in Kakamari Village and the wider Kaabong area.

Food will be sourced from local suppliers and distributed through community leaders and trained volunteers. Beneficiaries will be identified and verified with local leaders, with priority given to households facing the greatest need, including widows, orphans, elderly people, people with disabilities and families with limited or no livelihoods.

Together, we can help provide food, dignity and hope to families facing hunger.
